What if Tarlokk wasn’t the only one who thought this would end there and then? As Tarlokk was looking at the Equalist glove, Noatak realized that his words of new beginnings and a fresh start were just as hollow as his father’s were.

He shed a tear, realizing at the exact same moment his brother had, that they could never start over. Tarlokk activates the glove and ends this sad story for good, each brother realizing that this is the happiest ending that could have happened. In order to prevent a retelling of this story, they had to burn the book.

And that, is why I wept like a fucking child during this scene.
